CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute Ph.D Programmes 2012
CSIR-CDRI invites applications for admission to its Ph.D programmes from M.Sc and M.Pharm students in the relevant areas of research in the Institute.
1. Conditions for Eligibility - a) M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Life sciences / Biotechnology/Chemical/pharmaceutical and qualified in CSIR-UGC-NET,ICMR, DBT examination for Junior Research Fellowship. The fellowship should be valid as on the date of joining for the session commencing January 2012. b) GPAT qualified second year, 3rd Semester students pursuing M.S (Pharm) or M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical/Pharmacology disciplines only may apply for GATE-JRF positions tenable at CDRI from July 2012.
2. How to apply - Candidates need to fill up the on-line application form that is available at the institute's website (till 5th October, 2011). After submitting the online application form, the computer generated ID ticket may be printed and mailed along with photograph, photocopies of certificates of date of birth, educational qualifications and proof for qualifying JRF/GPAT Score to Scientist-in-Charge, Academy Affairs Unit, Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR), Chattar Manzil, Lucknow - 226 001 latest by 12th October, 2011. Hard copy submitted without filling online application form shall not be considered or entertained for selection in any circumstances whatsoever.
3. Selection Process - All applications will be screened by a committee. Only those candidates who are found suitable will be called for interview / counselling at CDRI, Lucknow between 15-20 November, 2011. The committee can set their own criteria for short-listing the candidates. No TA will be paid by CDRI and candidates will have to make their own arrangements for 2-3 days stay at Lucknow. The number of students to be selected will depend upon the positions available with scientists at CDRI. The decision of the committee with regard to selection of candidates shall be final.

Rehabilitation Council of India-RCI was now introducing few of its regular and distance mode courses in online mode also to felicitate the learners who are interested to learn the rehabilitation courses offered by RCI but have no avenue to undergo any conventional education programme or non availability of any training institutions at a nearer place. We thought this could be an opportunity for us, to create something, which will be very relevant for people from all walks of life, for all those who would like to learn our rehabilitation courses.

The online programme is meant for any teacher who wants to understand disability issues. Special educators specialised in any disability area will be able to broaden their understanding in cross disability areas.

IGNOU & C-DAC to offer PG in ICTE
IGNOU and C-DAC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer post graduate degree programmes in advanced areas of Information and Communication Technology and Electronics (ICTE) at the various C-DAC centres.
The objective of this MoU is to develop full/ flexi time diploma, M.Tech degree programme and research programmes leading to Ph.D. and M.S. by research of IGNOU at C-DAC centres. It aims to undertake joint research programmes in ICTE areas and apply for funding from National and/ or International agencies.
Programmes in M.Tech/ M.S. on Cyber Forensics, M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI system are ready for launch while M.Tech/ MS in high performance computing and M.Tech/MS in IT with specialization in software technologies and enterprise architecture are still in the pipeline.
According to the MoU, the M.Tech degree programme would normally consist of specific set of course work for one year, followed by a project of one-year duration. Sufficient flexibility will be incorporated to intersperse the project and the course work for maximum effectiveness.
Provision will also be made to convert course credits to diploma/ certificate program. Some of these courses can be offered as diploma/ certificate programmes with focused specialisation. The collaboration would also lead to effective national/ international workshops, conferences, seminars, symposiums and publish the proceedings thereof.

To drive the quality mission forward, the Coffee Board of India has instituted a post graduate course to support the requirements of the Indian coffee industry for trained personnel with special aptitudes and skills. Coffee quality evaluation is a well-accepted practice the world over and students from previous batches have found satisfying and remunerative assignments in Indian coffee companies.
The PGDCOM is designed to equip students with the specific knowledge and skills required to function as coffee tasters. Course content includes coffee cultivation practice, coffee marketing quality evaluation techniques and quality assurance systems, and training sessions.
12 months course in 3 trimesters conducted in English.

To drive the quality mission forward, the Coffee Board of India has instituted a post graduate course to support the requirements of the Indian coffee industry for trained personnel with special aptitudes and skills. Coffee quality evaluation is a well-accepted practice the world over and students from previous batches have found satisfying and remunerative assignments in Indian coffee companies.
The PGDCOM is designed to equip students with the specific knowledge and skills required to function as coffee tasters. Course content includes coffee cultivation practice, coffee marketing quality evaluation techniques and quality assurance systems, and training sessions.
12 months course in 3 trimesters conducted in English.

The course aims to enable the learners to gain understanding of the basic nature, problems and issues related to child protection and juvenile justice; build capacities and commitment aimed at ensuring prevention, timely intervention and accountability for promoting a healthy childhood; develop a synergy between theory and practice on issues of child protection and juvenile justice.
The programme also prepares the personnel to manage various positions for effectively implementing juvenile legislation; improve their skills and comprehension; creates and enhances large scale social awareness and advocacy; enables legal, administrative and social work ractitioners to seek the creation of new law in response to the newly emerging societal needs and improves the institutional infrastructure for implementing institutional services for children.
The course is of interest to any NGO personnel (at least a graduate) working in various child welfare fields, law enforcement agency officers, lawyers, magistrates, counselors, probation officers, superintendents/ deputy superintendents of observation/ remand homes and other institutions providing services to children. Officers serving the directorates of social welfare and/ or the ministry of women and child development, child protection workers/ advocates, social workers, school counselors/ social workers, community mental health workers can also enroll for the course.
Though the course is open for any graduate but preferably, the learner should be MA in Social work/ psychology/ sociology from a recognised university or PG Diploma in rehabilitation psychology or professionals having minimum two years of working experience with law enforcement agency.

UGC Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Girl Child Post Graduate Education 2011
Compensating direct costs of girl education to all levels especially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family.the objectives of the proposed scheme of the UGC are to support post-graduate education of single girl child in non-professional courses only.The value of scholarship is Rs.2000/- per month for a period of two years only. No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.
Eligibility:
i) Any single girl child of her parents. In a family if one son and one daughter is available then girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme.
ii) The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in regular, full-time 1st year Masters Degree course in any recognized university or a post graduate college.
iii)This scholarship is available to PG-I year student only.
iv) Admission to PG Course in distance education mode is not covered under the scheme.
Age: Girl students up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible.

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) will be conducted on January 8, 2012. The test would be coordinated by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI), an association of like minded institutes. Apart from the 16 core member institutes mentioned, more than 70 associate member institutes located in different parts of the country select students on basis of XAT scores. Details of the associate member institutes, along with that of registration process would be given on www.xlri.ac.in on September 20, 2011.
Online registration for XAT 2012 can be done from September 20, 2011 till November 30, 2011. Applicants should note that registration for XAT is a pre-requisite for applying to the different institutes, and applicants have to apply separately to institutes of their choice.
