Goa Education Trust (GET) has been conceptualized by the industrious Dempo and Fomento groups from Goa. GET is aimed to provide Goans an efficient medium to pursue the best available opportunities in education, in whatever areas they desire. It will provide scholarships and/or research fellowships etc. to Eligible Students for their post graduate studies in the United Kingdom in all spheres, fields and departments

Since the introduction of the scholarship in 2010, several Goan students have successfully completed their studies in subjects as diverse as Journalism, Education, Ancient History and the law.

The Summer School Program of the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) will be held from 28th May 2012 to 6th July 2012. If you are interested in pursuing a research career in Physics and Technology after your M. Sc / B.E. / B.Tech, here is an opportunity to spend a six weeks of your summer vacation at IPR.

In this program you can learn about Plasma (matter in an ionized state) and its applications in nuclear fusion and industries. The course comprises of lectures on plasma science, fusion and industrial technologies, and a short project related to Plasma Science/Technology. The participants will have to work on a specific project in association with a faculty member of the institute. This will present them a huge opportunity of interacting with the scientists at IPR.

If selected, you will be paid a stipend of Rs.10,500/- for the entire period and a
to and fro train fare (sleeper class ) by the shortest route. You will also be provided with a free hostel accommodation (limited seats are available) during this period.

Eligibility :

ICMR International Fellowships for Indian biomedical scientists

Number of fellowships: Young scientists-12; Senior scientists-6

Duration: 3-6 months for young scientists and 10-15 days for senior scientists

Eligibility:
* M.D/PhD degree with at least three years teaching/research experience for young scientists
* And atleast fifteen years teaching/research experience for senior scientists.
* Regular position in a recognized biomedical/research/health institution in India .
* Below 45 years of age for young and 55 years for senior scientists.

Financial support:
US $ 2400 per month, contingency grant of Rs.15,000/- and return economy class air ticket (excursion airfare) for young scientists. US $ 160 per day (including US$ 75 as per diem and rest for accommodation expenses) and return economy class air ticket (excursion airfare) for senior scientists.

Note:- The applicant should submit a letter of acceptance from the foreign Institute where he/ she proposes to work along with a concrete plan of training / research work to be undertaken during the fellowship.
* Recommendation by the Head of the parent organization / institute is essential.
* Incomplete applications will not be entertained.
* Decision of ICMR will be final.
* If selected, the fellowship is to be availed before 28th February, 2013.

IGNOU New Courses DWM/CWHM 2012

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started its admission process for two special courses in water harvesting.

Diploma in Watershed Management (DWM) and Certificate in Water Harvesting and Management (CWHM) for July 2012 session.

The programmes are meant for learners interested in basic knowledge and skills for water harvesting, conservation and utilization. Eligibility :

Applicants having completed their 10+2 in any discipline from any recognized Board / Council / University with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) aggregate marks, or equivalent grades, are eligible to seek admission.

Candidates expecting their 12th results may also apply. Their admission will be provisional and subject to furnishing proof of securing a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) aggregate marks, or equivalent grades, in the same latest by beginning of the Second Semester.

Failure to furnish proof shall render their admission null and void. No extra time will be given for submission of final mark sheet even in the case of students who have applied for revaluation.

Selection procedure :

First Round – SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) is a common objective entrance written test conducted by Symbiosis for graduate programmes. It is the first step in seeking admission to Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication (Undergraduate). Candidates are shortlisted for the second round on the basis of SET scores. SIMC (UG) gives a varied weightage to SET components and does not go by the aggregate score alone.

Second Round – The second round consists of assignments, subjective written test, group discussion, personal interview and verification of documents.

It is mandatory to appear for SET for admission to SIMC(UG)

IGNOU PGDCC programme is a non-invasive clinical cardiology programme implemented in collaboration with Top Cardiac Institutes of the country. Hands on skills training will be provided in the area of ECG and /Stress Testing, Echocardiography, Wards & OPD management of cardiac patients, Management of patient in ICU/CCU, Paediatric Cardiology and Preventing Cardiology. More than 60 cardiac institutes across the country have been designated as training centres of the PGDCC Programme. It is a two year full time programme.

Fee – Rs 39,600/- per year

Duration – Minimum-2 years Maximum- 4 years

Eligibility :
Admission will be based on IIT JEE–2012 Rank List. The candidate should have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (55% in case of SC/ST/Physical Disability) in class 12th or equivalent.

M.Tech.
The institute invites application for admission in a 2-year M.Tech. programme in Petroleum Engineering for the academic session 2012-13.

Eligibility :
A 4-year B.Tech/B.E. degree in Petroleum, Petro-Chemical, Production, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering.

GATE score basis: Shortlisted candidates based on their valid GATE scores will be called for a written test followed by an interview. Final selection list will be made on the scores obtained in the written test and interview aggregately.
Company sponsorship basis: GATE score is not required. These candidates must appear for a written test followed by an interview. Such candidates will not be eligible for M.Tech. fellowship. Candidate should have worked for the sponsoring organization for at least one year.
