Fellow Programme in Management (equivalent to Ph.D)
The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is a full time, residential doctoral programme designed to equip students for careers in management education and research.
FPM students will specialize in one of the following Areas:
(1) Corporate Strategy and Policy
(2) Economics and Social Sciences
(3) Marketing
(4) Organisational Behaviour & Human Resource Management
(5) Finance & Control
(6) Production & Operations Management
(7) Quantitative Methods and Information Systems
(8) Public Systems
(9) Public Policy
Eligibility
Post-graduates from any discipline (or those with professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA, and CS considered equivalent to a post-graduate degree) with at least 55% aggregate marks who also have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained after a minimum of three years of work subsequent to higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. If applying to the Corporate Strategy and Policy area, these candidates must have a minimum of two years of work experience after graduation. Other areas do not require work experience from post-graduate candidates.
Engineering graduates with B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. Engg. degrees with at least 60% aggregate marks and two years of work experience after graduation.
Students enrolled in the final year of a post graduate programme may also apply but must complete their degree requirements before 30 June 2008.
NRIs and citizens of other countries with above qualifications or equivalent may apply, but are not eligible for financial support and must pay annual tuition fees of US$ 8,000 for each of the first two years and US$ 2,000 for each of the subsequent two years.
We encourage candidates to submit valid test scores from either CAT (2007), or GMAT (taken after March 2003), or GRE (taken after March 2003), or GATE (2006 or later), but will also accept applications without any test score. Candidates taking the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) must have the official result reported to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). The GRE code number for IIMB Fellow Programme in Management is 7385.
Waivers
Alumni of IIMs who obtained a post graduate diploma in 1999 or later with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) equivalent of 2.75 or better on a 4-point scale, if admitted, will enter second year of the programme directly and will not be required to take the first year courses unless asked to do so by their advisors.
Financial Support
FPM at IIMB provides one of the best financial packages for doctoral students in the country. Our FPM students do not pay tuition and hostel rent and get paid a modest stipend and some contingency support. Beginning July 2008, FPM students will get a stipend of Rs. 15,000 per month, and up to Rs. 150,000 in contingency support to meet academic expenses and Rs. 100,000 for participating in conferences abroad during the programme. These rates are expected to go up in future. Some housing is available on campus. Married students living off-campus get a housing allowance of up to Rs. 5,000 per month. In addition, FPM students have opportunities to work as Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant for which they get paid extra. A few scholarships are also available to students from second year onwards.
Scholarships
1. Infosys Scholarship
The Infosys Technologies Ltd., offers scholarship to one FPM Student for a maximum period of 3 years.
2. EADS-SMI Scholarship
EADS-SMI Endowed Chair offers Scholarship to one FPM student after completion of second year of study. The Student must be working on a research topic relating to sourcing and supply management aspects.
The yearly scholarship is subject to satisfactory progress review by the faculty of the EADS-SMI Endowed Chair for Sourcing
How to Apply
FPM Application forms are issued free of cost on request from 16th August 2007 to 15th February 2008. Please write to FPM Office, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore 560076, with a self addressed envelope size (9" x 12") affixed with stamps for Rs.75/ and a self addressed slip. The application forms can also be downloaded from our website www.iimb.ernet.in from 10th August 2007.
Fill in and submit the forms as instructed, prior to the closing date. Forms ( Form A / Form B ) downloaded from the IIMB website must be filled in hard (printed) copy and sent to the IIMB FPM office so as to reach the above address on or before 29th February 2008 along with enclosures as given in the instructions.
Last dates
(1) Receipt of request for application forms by mail: 15th February 2008.
(2) Receipt of completed application forms: 29th February 2008.
