HLL Lifecare Ltd, has launched two novel courses in clinical engineering and management to launch its education division – HLL Academy in collaboration with IGNOU

Post Graduate Diploma Course in Clinical Engineering and Management (PGDCEM) and Post Diploma Course in Clinical Engineering and Management (PCEM), beginning from January 2012

The courses, having two semesters of six months each, have been launched in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on distance education mode with contact classes. The courses will cover different aspects of production development, production, quality control, and marketing of various pharmaceuticals, medical devices and services. The curriculum has been designed to fulfil the requirements of healthcare institutions, procurement service agencies and equipment manufacturers.

The other programmes in the pipeline by the academy are in the areas of social marketing and good manufacturing practices. It also plans to launch M.Tech and MBA programmes.

For the third consecutive year Educational Testing Service-ETS announces the launch of the TOEFL Scholarship Programme in India. Created specifically for Indian Students, the scholarship programme will award scholarships valued at approximately US$70,000 an increase of US$10,000 in award funding from 2011. Scholarship funding can be applied to either under graduate or graduate study for the 2012 academic year. Ten scholarships will honour Indian students demonstrating academic success including Four US$10,000 scholarship for study at a college or university located in Australia, Canada, UK and / or the United States and listed in the TOEFL destinations directory Six US$5,000 scholarships for study at any college or university listed in the TOEFL destinations directory. IIFM, a top level sectoral management school imparting managerial competence in forest,environment,development and allied sectors invites applications for its Post graduate Diploma in Forestry Management-PGDFM for the batch of 2012-2014.It is Two Year Full Time Residential Programme approved by AICTE and AIU and has a record of 100% campus placement.

Admission to the fully residential two year PGDFM is open to graduates from any discipline provided he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria and qualifies through the selection process.

Eligibility :

Applicants should have at least a three-year bachelor’s degree in any discipline obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with a minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/DA) or equivalent CGPA.

Candidates appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply provided they complete it before June 30, 2012 and fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by IIFM.

All applicants desirous of seeking admission in PGDFM at IIFM have to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies. IIFM will use the CAT score for short-listing the candidates for two year full time post graduate programme. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

In addition to CAT, the candidate should also fill-up a separate form for admission to PGDFM, which is available from IIFM Bhopal. The cost of IIFM application form is Rs. 900/- (450/- for SC/ ST) payable at Bhopal. This can be obtained either personally or by post. The application form can also be downloaded from our website and in that case, the completed application form should accompany the Demand Draft of the specified amount drawn in favour of “Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management” payable at Bhopal.

Filled in application form, complete in all respect including the CAT registration number (which will be available on CAT vouchers issued by IIM) should reach IIFM Bhopal on or before 12th December 2011. Applicant should attach the photocopy of CAT voucher along with IIFM application form.

IIST ISAT 2012 Online Application Process for undergraduates programmes in IIST

IIST now invites applications for admissions to its B.Tech programmes in Aerospace Engineering Avionics and Physical Sciences for the academic year 2012 - 13. Admissions to the B.Tech programme will be through the IIST admission Test (ISAT - 2012) to be held on Saturday 21st April, 2012 in Twenty two cities across the country. Candidates for ISAT - 2012 have to register online at the IIST website www.iist.ac.in/isat 2012 and follow the instructions below :-

Examination fee - Candidates residing in India - The exam fee for candidates in Gen and OBC categories is Rs.600/- and fee for SC,ST,PD and female candidates in all categories is Rs.300/- The exam fee is non-refundable. The fee has to be remitted in any one of the branches of State Bank of India (SBI) Punjab National Bank (PNB) or Union Bank of India (UBI) by using the challan (in triplicate) which can be downloaded/printed on successful completion of on-line registration. Fee remitted in any other form will not be accepted.

NRI Candidates - NRI candidates can remit their examination fee through any bank outside India. The fee must be sent in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Registrar, IIST payable at Thiruvananthapuram Demand draft issued from Bank within India Not be Accepted.

Piping Engineering is a truly multidisciplinary subject. It draws its knowledge base from chemical, mechanical, civil, electrical, metallurgical, instrumentation, control engineering, to name a few. Traditionally, chemical or mechanical engineers have taken to this profession and it is believed that about 10 years on-job experience and exposure can make a few gifted ones 'piping engineers' in real sense. Design/engineering sector as well as operating companies have always yearned for a formal training programme in piping engineering so that this slow self-training approach could be replaced by a fast track. Against this background the present course emerged.
The activity was institutionalized through the formation of a Piping Engineering Cell in CAD Centre which now conducts this course. The acceptance of the course by the industry has virtually forced the hands of various software houses and the Piping Engineering Cell has now a collection of most state-of-the-art piping engineering software. These are extensively used during the course.
The open course is conducted twice every year, the winter edition beginning in the first or second week of December and the Summer edition in the first or second week of May. These are calendar events. Enrollment for the Winter 2011 course is now open. Please note that the medium of instruction in the course is English.

The admissions are strictly on first-come-first- served basis and would close latest by November 21, 2011. Please note that this is the last closing date and admissions are normally closed as soon as the seats are full. As per past experience, seats would be full well before the last date.

The last date of filling in application form is November 11, 2011. The exact date of aptitude test / interview will be intimated to the shortlisted candidates and will also be posted on the institute's website http://iitrindia.org/phd_programme.htm.

Selection Process - All applications will be screened by a committee. Candidates found suitable after the screening will be called for interview/counselling at IITR. Those appearing for the interview will not be paid any TA/DA. The decision of the committee with regard to the selection of candidates shall be final.
